Omar S Khokhar, MD

Dr Khokhar is a board-certified gastroenterologist based in central Illinois since 2010. Prior to 2010, he completed a residency in internal medicine from University of Illinois College of Medicine-Peoria, and a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Georgetown University Hospital. Since 2010, he has performed more than 20,000 endoscopic procedures and provided clinical care to thousands of patients with gastrointestinal illness. 


In addition to clinical practice, Dr Khokhar has served in multiple leadership roles, including:


  • Chairman, Department of Medicine, OSF Healthcare St Joseph Medical Center (2016-2018)
  • President, Medical Staff, OSF Healthcare St Joseph Medical Center (2018-2022)
  • Lead Physician (Gastroenterology, Urology, Surgery, ENT), OSF Medical Group (2016-2022)


Dr Khokhar is an active member of several community groups, including:

  • BN Sunrise Rotary
  • Board of Directors, McLean County Chamber of Commerce
  • Governing Board Member, Community Cancer Center
